I'm a designer and artist working across animation and XR.

I completed my master's degree in Animation at the Graduate School of Film and New Media, Tokyo University of the Arts, and went on to study VR at the Jaunt XR Lab at the University of Southern California. I began as a short-film animator and have worked as a graphic designer, an illustrator, and an animator on documentary films, before working as a designer and artist in the XR industry.

Since 2019, I have been researching modern witchcraft. My book, Gendai Majo (Modern Witches), will be published by Shueisha in November 2026. Magic is my specialty.

I'm interested in well-being, speculative design, and more-than-human perspectives.

A speculative design project, made at SDS, imagining a market where dreams are bought and sold with a virtual currency called BAKU. Drawing on medieval Japan, where dreams were thought to arrive from outside and could be traded, it consists of three works: Dream Dock, a browser-based exchange whose dream stock prices follow a century of real-world data; Just Buy Nightmare!; and Dream Contagion. Exhibited at yOu Tokyo_ART STUDIO, September 2026.

Three difficult challenges that, if addressed, would make people's lives radically better. These describe why each problem is worth solving, not how to solve it.

Challenge 1

The water reaches the doorstep, but it never becomes "my" story

Who is affected today

Over the past few weeks, my family's home in Chiba has been threatened by flooding again and again. Yet my parents have never taken an interest in climate change. They are not unusual. For most people, climate change is a distant event on the news, or a problem too big for any one person to do anything about. The heavy rain in front of them is put down to bad luck, or "a lot of rain this year," and forgotten until the next storm. They live through the crisis, but have no way to sense what it is or what it has to do with them.

What changes day to day日々の暮らしで何が変わるか

When they hear the rain or watch the river rise, they can feel that it is not a passing misfortune but part of a long, slow change. What seemed far away becomes a story about their own home, family, and neighborhood. Instead of "there's nothing I can do," they can ask, "where am I within this change?"

What changes for society

Climate change stops belonging only to experts and activists, and becomes something ordinary families talk about at the dinner table. Neighbors notice that they are living through the same change, and private worries become shared concerns. Not only people, but also the other living things that share the same river and land, enter that conversation.

Why it matters

No matter how much data and how many warnings pile up, nothing changes as long as people cannot feel it. If even people whose home is at risk of flooding cannot turn their attention to it, the problem is not a lack of knowledge but the way we sense the world. Unless we get past this, every countermeasure loses the people it is meant to reach.

Unforeseen consequences

If everyone could feel climate change strongly, more people might be crushed by anxiety and despair. The sense that "there's nothing I can do" is, in a way, something that protects the mind. New divisions and blame could also arise between those who have felt the crisis and those who have not.
